Shining Lights 5K and 1 mile Fun Run

Join us for the Inaugural Shining Lights 5K run/walk and 1 mile kids fun run starting at the iconic Blue Bonnet Palace in Selma, TX. All proceeds benefit Positively Impacting Communities, Inc. (PIC) and PIE Club. Your participation will help teens continue to shine their light in helping others by providing packages of fresh produce and meat for families in need and Summer Reading Mentors.

Awards will be given for:

• Best Costume (1st, 2nd and 3rd place)
• Best Group Costume (1st and 2nd place)
• Best Overall Male/Female Finisher
• Top Finisher in each age group

Positively Impacting Communities, Inc. (PIC), provides the following programs in the Schertz Cibolo Universal City ISD area:

• Provide packages of fresh produce and meat as the Christmas and summer breaks begin to families in need.
• Summer Reading Mentors where teens work with younger children to increase their reading and comprehension skills. Then they attend chapel time, play games and have a nutritious lunch together. The children are then given a backpack of snacks to help sustain them. We anticipate the program will double in size this year.
• Positively Influencing Everyone (PIE) Club on three campuses; focused on positive character traits and things we can do in the school and community to help others. 
• School awareness signs to provide information and resources on issues youth deal with such as stress/time management, setting social media limits, suicide prevention, teen dating violence, nutrition/food insecurity and teen pregnancy prevention/abstinence. 
• Sex trafficking presentations
